Training Courses Launched for Sports Clubs in Lisburn & Castlereagh 28 September 2022 Commonwealth Games Northern Ireland Netball Coach, Elaine Rice is encouraging local sports clubs to sign up for a host of specialised training courses. The timetable is available as part of the council’s popular coach education programme. Sports clubs and coaches will have access to over 20 courses, which are available to book throughout the sporting year. These courses will give sports representatives the skills to develop their club and get the best out of their players and athletes. Course choices include Strength & Conditioning, Sports Nutrition, Sports Psychology, First Aid in Sport and Safeguarding to name but a few of the courses available. Speaking at the launch of the programme, Councillor Aaron McIntyre, Chair of the Leisure & Community Development Committee said, “We have many great clubs in our council area, whose success is down to the dedication of coaches and back room staff. The coach education courses provide a great opportunity for these clubs to enhance their skills and support the next generation of world class athletes. “I would like to thank Elaine for helping to launch this year’s coach education programme. I know the achievements of the NI Netball Team at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham will have inspired many athletes and clubs to follow their dreams.” Elaine Rice added, “The wide selection of courses available on the coach education programme will help clubs obtain a wealth of skills and knowledge. I hope the programme will encourage clubs to provide a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment to get the best out of players and athletes at grassroots level.” For the full timetable of training courses and to book online, please visit https://www.lisburncastlereagh.gov.uk/things-to-do/sports-development/coaching-courses For further information, please email ciara.mccrystal@lisburncastlereagh.gov.uk
