Sport Lisburn & Castlereagh Continues to Celebrate Local Sporting Talent

Sport Lisburn & Castlereagh has celebrated another month of sporting talent, following the announcement of the latest Sports Personality of the Month Award for the summer period.

Sponsored by Decathlon, the award recognises the achievements and dedication of sporting stars in the Lisburn & Castlereagh area. The winners are selected each month by the Sport Lisburn & Castlereagh Committee and a £100 voucher is awarded to each successful winner.

Sports Personality winner for June was trampoline athlete Jacob Dumigan who won Gold at the Northern Ireland Championships in June 2022, and as NI Champion in the 11-12 age category, Jacob represented NI at The British Gymnastics Inter-Regional Challenge Cup Final in Sheffield which took place earlier this month where he became National Champion.

Para-athlete Siomha Brady was July’s Sports Personality winner. Siomha is a member of the Irish International Para Swimming Squad who made her Commonwealth Games debut for Northern Ireland in the S8 100m Backstroke Final in Birmingham this summer and the successful swimmer touched in a personal best of 1:34.08.

Chairman of Sport Lisburn & Castlereagh, Jimmy Walker said, “I am delighted that we can acknowledge another two months of sporting achievements through our Sports Personality of the Month Award. Lisburn & Castlereagh has a wealth of sporting talent competing at local and international level so it is fantastic that we can formally recognise the many clubs and athletes for their dedication and accomplishments.

“Congratulations to both Jacob and Siomha on their amazing achievements in Trampolining and Para Swimming. It is fantastic we can celebrate two remarkable sports people from Lisburn & Castlereagh who have reached such accolades over recent months.
